  | do u need a PC if u have a PS3? i dont have a PS3 but i was thinking of getting one instead of a PC is there any real need to have both? the PS3 does virtually everything a home computer can do (unless i am mistaken?) u can browse the net - download films, music, p0rn etc onto its hardrive and plug a keyboard in its USB socket so why did i just spend £330 on a laptop? i'm almost annoyed  think i should sell it and buy a PS3~?? maybe |

Yes u deffo need a pc,coz i dont think u can browse the net on it, tho u can go and play online, but there 2 different things. and u cant download anthing as u will be only able to play specific file formats on the ps3 where a pc u can just download the required software to play the video or audio file, where ps3 u cant, well not yet, not untill sum hackers hack it, which even then ur gonna have to go about things the long ass way juss to do simple things a pc can do... my 2 penny's

| Re: do u need a PC if u have a PS3? i got a PS 3 magazine at home and it seems to think you can browse ANY website from the console including porn i know it plays mp3's and mpeg and you can transfer them to an mp3 player through its USB (its got about 5 sockets i think) £480 aint bad if your practically getting a pc with it not to mention a blue ray dvd player |

| Re: do u need a PC if u have a PS3? Pc`s will always be better than consoles. Faster, better graphics, more storage, etc, etc. There are just so custamizable comparted to a console and components are soooo cheap.

the thing is the laptop i just bought is only 1.5 GHZ and cant even play any of the decent pc games most of them require 2 GHZ + and i just found out u cant upgrade laptops with graphic cards like you can a desktop !!?? | |

Get a PS3 (or xbox 360) for games - Paul is right - PC's are more powerful but obviously because the hardware isn't standard the games can suffer. I usually use a PC to download. You can replace parts very easily if they burn out. My PC runs 24 hours a day just downloading. I certainly wouldn't want to do that with a laptop or a console due to not being able to replace parts.

Sony talk a load of crap, remember the cto saying that the PS2 would "look so real it would be indistinguishable from reality" haha what a moron. No - seriously don't get a ps3 to do the things you want, it may be able to do them in some messed up, half ****d way - but you will get ****ed off with the amount of incompatibility. |

| Re: do u need a PC if u have a PS3? I am a video game nut myself, until recently i used to clock up 6 hours a night. I have had every console ever and always a pc too. since the atari 2600  If I had to choose only one the pc wins every time for games. The ps3 is already heavily outpowered by a good pc in terms of capability, the programming environments for a pc are very well known wheras the tools for a new console are new every time; so you get better developed games in general for a pc. Also you can more easily try out a pc game before you part £40 for it only to find it sucks. Then when it gets dated - you can keep many of the parts and do a partial upgrade so it doesn't cost a fortune every time. Plus you can do about a million non gaming things on a pc that you cant on a console. Just dont get a mac |
