Gyms in the Southampton/Hampshire area
Hi i was wondering if anybody new of any more 'hardcore' gyms in the Southampton/Hampshire area as all the gyms near me only have dumbbells that go upto 50kg

come to my gym mate. its in the calmore area of southampton
you can wear what you like and loads of powerlifters train there so the weights are plentiful
there is no induction and training starts at £2.75 per session
the number is 02380-663483

Mwahaha, I come from Fareham! my folks still live near there too was gonna suggest a gym I went to in Fareham yeeeeeaaaarsss ago in an old Fort but I can't remember the name. That was a nasty hardcore gym!

Fareham is very close to were i live, its about a ten minute drive if that.

The Gym was called the FOrt Fareham gym, funnily enough in a place called Fort Fareham! It was proper hardcore, iron plates covered in rust, concrete and rubber mat floor with big chunks outta it.

I looked it up on Yell but it isnt there, I know it was off the Gosport Road on the way to HMS collingwood. No idea if its still there mate, but it wud be right up your street.

Worth checking out as you are close(ish), im certain you will have never trained at a venue like this before.It comes complete with outdoor assualt course walls.underwater tunnels etc,etc.

And to top it off Don has to be the nicest gym owner i have met

It's not Don stylers.. Fort Fareham is a different place near me. The gym is gone now but apparently that was MEGA hardcore, underground in one of the tunnels!

SportsDr I live round the Greyshot Avenue area near Ranvilles school, I used to go to Neville Lovett school. I'm quite close to titchfield. Where do you live now then mate? I recon we should get together and hit Don Stylers for a leg session!

Lol I went to Cams Hill so we wudda been old rivals :tongue10: my niece goes to NL now. Is there an RSPCA near you? I think I only lived like 2 miles from you lol..

Glad you knew the gym I was talking about, went there a coupla times, it was a nasty old place, great atmosphere, like you said, in a sort of tunnel, made it feel like a dungeon!

I live in E-Sussex now, still visit now and then though so you never know ;) need my glute to heal first though

Littleluke i live just the other side of titchfield to you in Locks Heath.

Also does anyone know if Don Stylers you have to be a member or whether you can just turn up and pay per session

Didnt relise theres quite a few people around the soton area on here...

i use the gym at Southampton Uni, nice and convienient as i work there...Lunch time workout and getting paid for it

Hi Guys,
The old gym in the fort industrial estate has long gone. Dons is a hard core place but he has put some cracking gear in there recently. He charges £3.00 a session, money in the box in the counter. He`s owned the gym for about 30 years and knows his stuff.
There`s another place in gosport, Lloyd vine leisure whats not too bad either.
A new place has just opened at the back of fareham , Strength -Tec,
where strongmen train, owned by a guy called rob frampton, Brit/uk strongest man competitor.

I have never done anything like this before in my life, im 6'1, slim/medium build, never trained. i came across your post looking for bodybuilding gyms. Is this a place where you need to know what your doing? as i don't, i need help on diet, how to .....etc. Any help would be great, thank you.

come to the city gym in portsmouth
db's up to 180lbs (80kg)

plenty of heavy lifters there and competing strongmen/bodybuilders

£3.50 for guests per workout

£20 a year membership
£2.50 for members or
£7 a week or £26.50 a month
