E-Bay wouldn't get involved, I have been scammed on E-Bay before and they don't get involved and don't care less. It sounds like a scam mate, but who knows all us sceptics could be wrong! Personally I would not have parted with the cash until I had test driven the motor so I could see it was being sold as described. Even an E-bay bought car must be sold as desribed in the ad! How dodgy the ad was removed! If you were watching it in 'My E-bay' it should still be there, even if the guy was found to be a scammer. Oh and don't bother with the Police either, they couldn't give a flying monkeys ****, nor can they collect enough evidence to get your money back, they will spend most time fighting over who's juristiction the accused is under!!! Fingers crossed for your friend. SD

I would only buy a car off Ebay if it was in the UK, had it HPI'd picked it up from the address on the V5, and got a photo of the seller...if they're legit there should not be a problem |

If that money leaves his account I guarantee he will NEVER see it again. What is the escrow company website mate? - It has been set up by scammers, they just bodge up a website that looks genuine, then go online sell things that don't exisit and suggest that the poor mug uses an escrow site to protect themselves. If the money has left his account he has already been robbed. I'm sorry | |

The only way to get anything done with a case like this is to try and get Interpol involved, Only they have the power to do anything - but they will only investigate if they see evidence that these guys are scamming people from more than one country. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Concern over my mate and his car! Hi all, many thanks for your help, I HPI checked the car again and guess what, it differs. The "seller" send over a PDF of a supposed HPI report done on monday it stated 1previous owner last owner change 18/9/2005 and the car had no reg changes now, the report I did just two days later stated 2previous owners last keeper change 18/9/2006 and the car had had a reg change now this finaly got through to my mate who managed to get the money back into his account. the add wasnt removed, it was just ended early. Dosent add up to me, the guy managed to somehow remove the "ask seller a question" tab and put his own mail add on there stating that he couldnt be contacted on the ask seller link as his ebay box was obver its mail quota??? Wouldnt you just delete some?? I could post upthe add for you to check out but im not sure im allowed on here??? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Concern over my mate and his car! Yeah, get your mate to leave it, I was ripped off big time on eBay selling a laptop. I sold it sent it off and I got the £1200 into my paypal account. As soon as the money arrived I sent it to my bank account, next day I got emails from paypal saying that the money was fraudulent and I owed them £1200. Luckily I was quick enough to transfer the money to my bank so i just kept it. However, paypal hassled me for about a year and in the end i got letters saying they were going to send debt collectors round. They never did, and if they had....lol. I kept my money but it was a valuable lesson and now I'm very careful. But yeah watch out ebay and paypal are ****s when it really get down to it. |
