I am going to go on a course then apply to S.I.A. When I was working as a security guard once, I dint have a badge and there were Ten Zimbabweans working there. I worked for a full month, 14hours a day. When it came to the end of the month I did not get paid, neither did the ten extra Zimbabweans. This job was placed in the local job centre and has not been removed since I complained. There dose seem to be something happening were the law is turning against hard working english class, just like americans, I wonder why. Maybe to course uproar, a riot?. By the way...haha if you think you like scuffling then doorwork is NOT FOR YOU! Firstly doorwork is about stopping trouble, not creating it...but you probably didnt mean it that way anyway, but let me tell you what happens, a basic example of a scenario: Man inside arguing with another customer because he couldnt be bothered to go to the toilet and just started p*ssing on the dance floor (no seriously, this has happened), customer gets angry cos its near his girlfriend...approaches the man whos just p*ssed on the dancefloor and starts mouthing off, p*ssing man's mate bottles the guy in the face, 3 more mates come and jump on him...girl runs to get doorstaff, young rookie doorman makes a radio call and runs to the incident but gets scared and wont get involved, 2 decent doorman come in, make a radio call for everyone to come to dancefloor (there are 6 guys fighting), 1 doorman gets glassed in face for trying to stop the fight...the guys walk out the venue and are fighting with the doorstaff. On the front door one of the guys spits at the doorman in his face and the doorman knocks him on the floor, the guy gets up and runs off with his mates. So what happens...police are called. Police say 'we are investigating, we are investigating, calm down, calm down, you need to make statements then go to court then do this and then do that and then make more statements etc etc'...but police firget about the whole thing because they cant find the people that committed the crime. But the police do see you hitting the man in the face via cctv (even though he glassed your colleague in te face and was jumping repeatedly on a guys head on the dancefloor and spat in your face) but they arrest you and you lose your badge and get sacked as a doorman. The guy inside suffers permanent brain damage. The doorman who got glased has a big scar down his face for his life (for doing his job and trying to stop an innocent man getting stamped to death). The police dont have any evidence so cant find any of the culprits. Things like this happen EVERY SINGLE NIGHT whilst working the doors around the country. Dont think it wont happen to you because it will eventually. | |

Only worked about 8 shifts but i've found its a pretty steep learning curve. I'm cirrently working in the north east but does anyone know of any companies providing security in middlesbrough? I am wanting to find work back in middlesbrough for the summer holidays as i have about 4 months off. |

An englishman of say pakistani origin can, or jamaican origin or any other origin, but a white englishman is not classed as an ethnic minority and thereofre is discriminated against whenit comes to job applications as they do not meet the gov't target of more ethnic minoirity's. But I agree with you to a certain extent |

They cannot go for the job as there is (according to the gov't) too many white males and they need more ethnic diversity. What a load of balls |

This does not help racism,it just makes the whole situation worse-what public sector employers do-they should simply advertise the job and it should be open to everyone......any racism/sexism/etc(no matter which race/sex/etc it's against),the offender should be sacked, simple as. |

| Newbie Trainer | Re: SIA licence/ and the police A really interesting thread to read through, as well as the many others on the forum. I was wondering what you guys opinions are on women/female door staff? Would you recommend it as a job, or do you have to be a certain 'type' (if you get what i mean) of woman? Is it a good environment for a woman etc, I imagine there are differences in the profession, but I would like people's opinions, regardless how un'pc' they are!! ![]() MissT |

Yes they look good, yes they are needed when a woman has to be searched, but when it all goes off 9 x out of 10 they are pretty much useless, yet they want the same money as some bloke who'll jump in and back you up. With big contracts it's ok as there are enough blokes to cover her, but on the average, smaller ones they are just not worth their money. But from the woman's point of view, it's probably easy money |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: SIA licence/ and the police Got to agree with BritBB. I worked for a few years, and the Police support you jack-****! The Door-man is the helper to the Police on the night, but get down to the Station to give your statement every other weekend and all lights are on you. Why? Because you're the only one there, all other involved persons are nowhere to be seen. And everybody is a hero now. Give them a line of coke and they think they are Jean-Claude whatshisname! So its getting more dangerous, night in night out, for low pay and longer hours. Its not glamorous and unless you really need to, don't bother. And if you do, make sure you trust your team, because thats basically the only thing that counts. |
