![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It clearly did occur in the past, but people weren't fed tablets as a "way out" of it. You were naturally shaken out of it. I honestly do believe that depression can be rectified by simple changes to your life. Mainly diet and exercise. I'm not saying Manic Depression and Bi Polar don't exist, but if you dont want to get out of it, you wont. It's strange, as DB says that it wasn't heard of 50 years ago and lets face facts - they had more to be p1ssed with than we do, so there is natural a way out of it. Without getting way too deep into this - suicide levels were also much lower then. |

Anyway I agree that too often drugs are prescribed when not necessary. I myself have had problems with depression in the past and I got myself out of it with a mental focus and a realistic assessment of my life. Too often people are too willing to lay their problems at the feet of other people to solve them instead of putting some effort in and making themselves better. Thats not to say the disease doesn't exist but not everyone with a back pain has a slipped disc.

| Banned | Heh - my mate's always at the doctors for depression. Truth is, he's probably the most Zen, chilled out guy I know, but he hates going to work. The doctor's happy to give him sick notes and my mate stays in and produces music all day. Not a reflection on all 'depression cases', of course, but it's trick that a number of people I know like to pull. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Mate a good cup of tea will sort you out lol I think there are two sides here - There are those who are clinically depressed - which is defined as a treatable illness involving an imbalance of brain chemicals called neurotransmitters. Which is obviously a legitimate illness. And there are those who seek attention or are a bit down for some reason and they think - fuk me I must be depressed, I need some anti depressants. These are the ones that need to sort THEMSELVES out without a prescripion of magic pills from the docs. I also agree that doctors seems to hand these pills out freely. |

On another note I got a lift of someone to the gym today and he nipped in the shop to get summit then this nutter jumped in the driver seat and started to roll the car down the hill saying, "it's early I'm gonna be late, I'm gonna be late". Hate living in washington, lol.... ![]() | |

![]() ![]() ![]() | I had a close friend who suffered from depression and it is a chemical imbalance and not just feeling down or sad. Medical help is the only way to combat it but that does not always work its a terrible thing to suffer from by what ive seen and my sympathies go to you mate. Good luck with your problems and congrats on your new arrival ![]() |
