Britain Thwarts Airline Terror Plot
UK, U.S. Raise Security Threat Levels

LONDON, Aug. 10 -- British authorities said Thursday they had disrupted a well-advanced "major terrorist plot" to blow up passenger flights between the United Kingdom and the United States with liquid explosives, prompting a full-scale security clampdown at U.S. and British airports and a cascade of delays in trans-Atlantic flights.

The plot was well planned, well financed and "well advanced," U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff said at a news conference Thursday morning in Washington. It was "about as sophisticated as anything we've seen in recent years as far as terrorism is concerned. . . . This was not a situation with a handful of people sitting around dreaming about terrorist plots."

i was watching that on the news this morning they worked out that out of heathrow airport there's 70 trans atlantic flights everyday and thats just from virgin and BA theres then all the american airlines flying in and out of this country.

all the other airports that have flights that go over the atlantic planes to the carribean fly to new york and straight down the american coastline to places like cuba so imagine how bad it could have been!

they did say though that they didn't know when the attack was planned for and this country is on critical alert (the highest we have) and they are stopping everything from cans of coke to hair gel getting on the planes and some airlines have refused to fly out of heathow today.

21 people have been arrested on suspicion and police are currently seeing if they have grounds or reason to charge them and how long they can hold them for without charge!

A friend of mine was meant to fly today, they wouldn't let him take anything onboard - just his wallet, tickets and passport - he even had to put his belt into his main luggage.

The are not messing about with this one!

Its pretty much the same over here mate. Well done to the good guys, send the offenders back to thier originating country (Including all thier extended family).

but then the interogater would have to run along side them whilst they were being dragged,...

spose it all depends on the speed of the dragging action,.....

or they could rig up a kind of rolling platform on which a team could sit whilst dragging the scumbag off one side.....

the team would consist of

a dragger , two interagaters , and a back up person who could keep poking the "dragee" with a sharp pointy stick,...

i have two daughters and the wife and myself are taking them to disneyland at christmas and stuff like this makes us wonder if its safe to fly..... i would bring back the rope to quote my grandad that will sort em !!!!

How about.....

set them up on treadmills, you could attach their scrots to a fixed point and then set the treadmill going, that way they would get the experience of being dragged but their scroates but without the inconvienience of the interogators having to follow them along.
