![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | big petes, strongman result! had a cracking day yesterday, a very well ran competition with 19 competitors and a good few hundred spectators. overall i placed 1st, but it has highlighted my weaker points, of overhead pressing and endurance. events were as follows, there were slight amendments on the day farmers walk, 90k per hand for 50m with a turn at the 25m point. managed to sprint at points, that was great, and completed the course in a respectable 20.1 seconds. i lost alot of time on the turn, i didnt turn well, but still won that barrel clean and press, for max reps in 90secs this was tough cos the reps was counted from picking up the barrel, cleaning it to chest/shoulder pressing and locking above head then returning to the floor, thats a single rep. i managed 8, where as the person who won the event got 11 reps. OH strength was pitiful, and i tired myself out within the first minute. i think i managed a single rep in the last 30secs. i placed joint 3rd yoke, 250k for 25m this was easier than i remembered. almost textbook all the way, i dont know the exact time but about 10-15seconds i believe. won that one too arm over arm sled drag with 160k on sled for 25m this was the worst event, i only started to get the hang of it when i was nearing the finish line, very tough and big respect to a chap called 'Mok' who won the event, he cracked it in a whopping 26secs, i on the otherhand did it in 42secs,lol. not the best. worrying thing was, because i did so bad at that event my overall place was now 3rd, so i had to rely on deadlifting to pull it back. althought there was only 1 point between the 3, i was still 3rd place last event, deadlift 200k, max reps, 90secs i knew i had to win this, and being as this is the bread and butter of training i had an inkling id do ok, had to grit in hard cos the lower back and grip were shagged after the other beastings they had during the day. had a couple of breathers during the 90secs, but ground out 19 reps. was well chuffed with it. worked out under 5secs per rep! overall a great day, got a nice gold medal and a 5kg bucket of whey for all the pain and its definately worth it!! onwards and upwards, im gonna knock the beefs comp on the head and shoot for the open event a fortnight after, so im gonna have a few days rest now and then next comp is 6 weeks away now |
