Hello,

dunno whether this belongs in this forum or what, but I thought some of you folks might have come across it. A month ago I was chatting to a Tarot reader and she was telling me to check out Reiki, I got a book on it and have read a little bit, but I was wondering if anybody knows whether it's a load of codswollop or whether it's genuine?

My missus mum is a reiki master i was a bit sceptical, but ill give most things a go, i let her reiki my back as i'd pulled some muscles and it defo helped it started to hurt again after a few hours but it worked for a short while, i dont understand the mechanics of reiki but its about crystal healing, shakras, and energy forces, which is all a bit wacky if you ask me

Yeh OSCs done a few different styles of it too

my wifes done a course on it ......seems to think it works

Yup I know a Reiki Master and have had a few sessions of it, first couple of times I didnt feel much but I have kind of opened up to it now, unexplainable.

Not codswallop mate but then again I`m biased:smoke:

I do six different styles(master in each one) but mainly stick to just 1 or 2 that I think suite me best..

Any questions feel free to ask away..

What is Reiki? How can it help you? what different styles are there? What different styles do you know?

I'm thinking about taking a day off next month and getting myself attuned (a kind of Reiki tuning), I want to read more about it first though. The thing is, how can you tell that you are getting the real deal and not being ripped off? Are there any places you can recommend in or around Birmingham?

There are several styles of reiki due to the origins of the teacher/master you are taught by.The concept is that everyone is born with the natural ability to heal with their hands but it has been bypasted due to lack of use shall we say.Think of it like this when you hurt your body in some way the first reaction is to grab it and hold one until the pain subsides ie hitting your thumb with a hammer you cup it in your hand.it is a natural reaction.
The belief is that natural energy flows through the body like a river from the top of your head to your feet and passes through 7 chakras (hot spots) on the way.If you are sick or injuryed one of these chakras becomes unbalanced/blocked resulting in sickness etc.Reiki is the placing of hands on the key parts of the body to clear blockages and to restore energy balance to the bodies systems.
To be able to give reiki you have to be initiated by a reiki master who basically opens up your energy system in an ancient ceremony which only they know the actions/ words etc,a bit hocus pocus but it definitely works.My mother is a master and I have received the first and second degree which allows me to give reiki to myself and to others that ask for it either present or not.
It does all seem hocus pocus and I was sceptical at first but when my mum gives me a treatment she will say place both her hands on my shoulders and you can feel the warmth in her hands on your shoulders,when she starts the treatment the heat jumps tenfold in her hands and you can feel it happen instantly,its like someone replaced her hands with a hot water bottle.Until you have felt it and you realise the person it doing it at will it is a bit of a mind bender.
Like many other things in life their is alot more to it than you think and more people are active in it than you would believe but do not talk of it outside the circle of fellow likeminded believers/thinkers for fear or ridicule.Its a can of worms that seems to go hand in hand the more you learn about it reincarnation/spirituality.nde"s many believe and have person storys to tell but only to those open to talk.
To puT it into words more akin to this site,WHAT THE MIND BELIEVES,THE BODY CAN ACHEIVE,when your on the gear you know you"re going to rip that bar off the floor and lock out like king kong on heat,but 4 wks after a cycle your doubts it evrytime you approach the bar,your beat before you start.Many people can do this naturally visualisation and positive thinkings the name of the game.

Hi Aris,

I would say definitely go for it.If you do a search on reiki their are recognised organisations that will have registered masters they will probably recomend.From personnal experience this is the side of reiki that people within its circle have differing view points.
Some view reiki as a business and will charge the earth for the attunements ie between 100 - 400 pounds for the different degrees.Others feel it should be spread around the world to those that ask or are in need of it for a small sum or a gift so that it is not taken for granted as it is an ancient gift that should not be taken lightly.If you are serious about it the best way is to try before you buy,find out by word of mouth where classes are held,notices are usually in health food shop windows,churches,libruarys etc go along meet others and have a session,you will soon find out who is willing to pass on the attunements for a more realistic offering and you will be able to feel the persons energy for yourself before you take the plunge.
PS do your homework first before you go so you can atleast understand the theory and take in more what is happening around you.

I would like that done to me. I need some healing.

Stupid question here but would stretching help open up the channels being blocked?
Is this a spiritual blockage or is this a physical/muscular blockage or is it both?

How do you know if you have a blocked chakras?
Do we all have blocked chakras?
