WHat i mean by this is how long after eating does a human have an empty stomach? I've read that ZMA and Tribulus are best taken on an empty stomach so i need to know how long to eat before i plan on taking these before bed. Cheers |

The empty stomach is determined by the rate of gastric emptying which will be higher for simple sugars and proteins i.e. PWO shake than it will be for a meal of CHicken and rice.

It is longer than one hour, 2 hours would be better. Problem is anything that has calcium in it will bind to the zinc rendering it totally worthless. Calcium binds with most minerals. In fact even if there is calcium as a binder in the pill it will ruin zinc. This is one of the reason for the empty stomach deal. Fibre in the diet inhibits zinc absorption as it binds and carries zinc away before it is accepted by the absorption sites. Empty stomach is just that empty. I eat at 6:00-6:30 and I go to bed at 9:00-9:30 this is when I take my zinc and magnesium. Zinc is a strong antagonist of copper. Zinc and copper compete for absorption in your body and the excess of one will deplete the other. I like this: One of the symtoms of copper deficiency is graying hair. ![]() Many herbal supps add copper to the zinc, but I am sure we are ok. Zinc happens to also be a natural anti-aromatase, so there just might be something other than zinc being needed to produce testosterone too. Excessive sweating can cause a loss of up to 3mg of zinc.
