Anyone know where I can get a descent pair of wrist straps, and weather leather ones are any good?

Lifting straps
My last training partner had the GREAT wrist straps, padded with little velcro tabs so they were really easy to 'roll' on an fasten by themselves. Think he got them from bodybuilding.com. Think they are the same ones that Jay uses.
