advice guys

Right it`s been a while since my last post, Just a bit of advice needed, I was on a bulking diet and my weight had gone from 13st 7 to 15st three,
the only problem which i was concerned about was i was using a fitness gym which did`nt have a lot of choice for excercises. So while i was happy with my progress in weight and strength i thought i would join a bb gym with pro`s, I was showed around all the equipment and which excercises i needed to be doing for different parts of my body, Here we go i thought next mr universe (not) I showed the instructor my diet and asked if it was ok, He just laughed and put me on a diet which was:

breakfast...............cup of oats with skimmed milk & pineapple

mid morning...........tub cottage cheese & mixed fruit

dinner...................chicken brest & salad

tea.......................chicken or red meat with veg

supper...................jacket potatoe with beans

I done this religiously for 10 weeks and my weight went down to 13st 11
my strength also went and i was constantly feeling tired i was told to up my carbs but was still feeling the same, now i feel as though i am back to square one and feel like s***. He said i needed to lose a bit of fat around my belly. I am thinking of going back on my priginal diet and back to my local fitness gym. Any advice much appreciated.
thanx kev

Re: advice guys

mate your instructers advice on diet was complete bull, for a start theres fook all protein in there, ditch his method and try get 40g of protein to 60g carbs every meal, having roughly six meals a day, if you eat clean meals and up your cardio there is no reason why you shouldnt put on a few pounds of lean muscle while keeping bf low,

Re: advice guys

Chees m8 was on a pretty good diet before, taking tips off this site and adding a few of my own things aswell as having protein shakes in between.
I was eating every 3 hours and was pleased with progress, I also kept a diary with all my meals and calculated cals, pro, cabs, fat. but thought a professional could get my training upto scratch.

cheers kev

Re: advice guys

thats the thing with bodybuilding mate, you learn alot through trial and error, now you've listened to a somewhat professional and made no gains.... go back to what you where doing before as you said it was working for you, also, have a look in the diet section, theres loads of info on bulk diets on there or even search "how to grow", its a very good article hiding in here somewhere written by Big

Re: advice guys

yeah what robbie said... these guys are only professional trainers and dont have a clue about bodybuilding diets or training half the time, your best bet is to approach a fairly big guy in the gym and ask him a few questions about diet and training, thats what i did when i first took up the sport, the best information comes straight from the horses mouth so to speak

Re: advice guys

It sounds to me as if most of the weight you put on was fat and water.

You're not going to lose all of that weight in the form of muscle.

I'd imagine your previous diet was too high in carbs/fat and perhaps incorrectly organised in terms of helpings/timing.

Add a scoop or 2 of whey to the breakfast oats, add carbs to the chicken and meat meals, add protein to the supper meal.

It looks like your trainer has tried to shift the fat and water off you which has worked. Now it's gone eat cleaner with more carbs and protein and any size you put on should be leaner muscle.
