WHATS THE BEST WAY

Should i be training with the heaviest weight possable, fairly strict for 8 reps or should i be using lower weights to get the burning feel in the muscle. After returning to the sport i have started off on light weights gradually adding 1/2 kilo at a time to get my weights higher. The first month i could feel the muscles burning, but i found i could gradually lift slightly heaver.

The problem i have now is that though i am lifting heavier than when i started two months ago and i find it hard to do the last rep, i have lost the burning feel. I am putting so much effort into lifting the weight rather than feeling it working. SO WHICH SHOULD I BE DOING ?

The burning feeling means nothing. The only thing that matters is that you're able to put your weights up each workout while keeping perfect form.

both ways are beneficial....why not combine them in the same workouts?

I really like that, 'instinctive training' I am so bogged down with numbers atm it distracts me from enjoying the exercise as much as I used to.

Moray Muscle will become famous soon enough
i have noticed best gains going real heavy, i sometimes combine the two, heavy for first two exercises then light for finish off get the pump going, i still get the burn from going heavy its just a different DEEPER burn,

Those of you who say you dont take much notice of numbers but just enjoy the lifting of the weight confusses me a bit.

I am an old school body builder but i allways try and add at least 1/2 kilo every time i workout, i appreciate this dont allways happen but that is my goal every time i work out. If i am doing lets say 8 different exercises in a session i would be devastated if i hadnt added weight to at least one of those exercises.

To me thats the whole point of training, to thrive and lift the heaviest you can, we all train different but i thought that was one thing we all did the same, i dont understand the point in not taking much notice of how much weight you are lifting, Maybe its me who has the wrong idea but it worked for me years ago. :lift:

What ur stiving for is the strongest possible contaction of the muscle which will in turn produce the greatest addaptave response.

So you should be using the maximum weight you can handle in good form IMO.

The form is Important because if your using a weight you cant hangle in good form you will be using sloppy form and not isolating the muscle you are trying to work, actually producing a less than maximum contraction in that muscle and therefoer a lesser addaptive response.
