Your form is off mate. I think you are bending over to far like I do. Pic a spot on the wall that is kinda high and stare at that while you squat.
If the back is sore I would go to a chiropractor. Ice for starters.
Conan, where the heck have you been?

I know some of the guys don't like em but do you use a lifting belt? Maybe an idea if you don't. Check your form first of course but the lower back will get worked with a squat regardless of form anyway, so your form may be good but your legs may be a lot stronger than your back if that makes sense?

if u go heavy belt is a must.. i dont care what everyone thinks about belts... u should use whatever it takes to keep ur back as str8 as possible during squats...
i have seen far too many ppl doing squats and good mornings at the same time.. its so freakin nasty...

use light weight to perfect ur form.. if u are bodybuilding it doesnt matter how much u lift... maximum muscle stimulation can only be achieved by correct form..

conan, are you tall? taller people struggle more with squats as they have to bend down a lot more and this increases back bend. Like everyone else said, keep head straight fixated on one spot looking straight ahead. Make sure your feet are directly underneath your torse and bend keeping back straight as you possibly can. Do you deadlift, could it be that? Hypo-ext, good mornings, are you sure its the squats?

Mate you need a chiropractor. Your back is out of alignment. Go see one. Does you have pain running down your leg?
