![]() | Squatting with injuries? I Have an L5/S1 intervertibral disc prolapse, in the past it has caused me no end of problems, at the moment all is well, however when it comes to squatting I am always fearful of a relapse, which could potentially have me laid up for weeks (again!!). Can anyone recommend a tequinique to relieve the load from the lower back, I've tried using a shrug bar which helps to a degree (but can't go deep enough), I'm not all that keen on using I belt, but I do reluctantly(I find it restricts my breathing), Ive tried missing out squats completely in favour of a leg press. Is there nothing out there to parallel squats without hurting my back????. At 6'4" with legs as skinny as hell, what can I do? I'm starting to look disproportional now!!!!. |

![]() | Front squat. And do McKenzies exercises after squatting. Do LOTS of core work and hypers.

| UK-Muscle Moderator | agree with golden arrow on the hyperextentions and agree with biker on the leg press, u'll have to work around ur injury mate, try doin leg extentions first to exhaust ur quads b4 leg press??

![]() | I would get the all clear from the physio first, but I have had a few back and knee problems and now I pre exhaust with leg curls and extensions first. Not just a warm up I go to failure. So that when I got to squats after it is my leg muscles failing first and not my lower back and knees. I keep the reps high and don't wear a belt.
