Symmetry

Hi all.

I was wondering what the best way of achieving good symmetry was.

My chest has always been a bit bigger on the left side than on the right and was wondering how I should sort this out.

Or will it sort itself out as I get bigger?

It is normally quite a common thing for new starters, how long you've been training for??
Their will always be a certain degree of imbalance i have that in my lats ,bi's and chest and even in my testiscles LOL,people don't notice it but i can see it but its nothing major as every body has it even pros .but obviously it should be minimal other wise your either not doing good form when doing basic exercise or your a freak with genetical abnormalities LOL.

My left arm is bigger than my right, by about a cm, which annoys me greatly...

I've been training for about a year now. I'm not overly concerned about it at the minute, as I just want to get bigger. But I hope that it will sort itself out in time.

Well, the rule of thumb would be to concentrate on the dumbell exercises as they force your weak side to push the same as your dominant side. Having one side of the body bigger than the other is quite common. The only other way I could think of would be site injections in the smaller side and I dont know if I would go to that extreme but it is an option if it is really noticable. I think in time they will respond evenly and eventually be the same size.
Try dumbell exercises for chest and see if the small side is weaker. You will only be able to go as heavy as the small side allows you to go then just watch and see.

Makes sense hacksii.
I've decided though to build myself up to the size I want first and then concentrate on the 'finer details'.

That would be the easiest way. Heck they might just end up being the same size when you are huge. Good luck.

I always thought my left trriceps were smaller than the right, no-one else seems to think so. Maybe it's just me?. I always try and do a couple of extra sets of kickbacks with my left arm on tricep days anyway.

yeah, I guess that as ones body size increases, then the proportion of the smaller side in relation will look less smaller, if that makes sense.

I always thought the left side might be bigger because of the heart. Maybe to protect or somthing.

interesting thought, i wonder if the fact that the heart is on the left actually has something to do with symmetry..
