Gains will become famous soon enough
Re: Cardio & building muscle

Seems I was worried over nothing- the weight lost must be water weight and fat, as after a high carb day my muscles fill out and I look as big as I ever did before.

I can think of 10 reasons it can lose you muscle.
Then again I can think of 10 ways of becoming bankrupt, realistically nobody should be doing it though

Cardio can be cery very catabolic, cardio can be mildly anabolic also. It really depends on what you do, when you do it and how you feed yourself not only around it but on the whole. If you get on a bike every morning with no food, hammer the **** out yourself for an hour and you are 5% body fat you will lose muscle and induce a whole manner of other negative situations.

If you have your food intake sorted, and that isnt 'just keep your protein' high as protein is a pointless source for cardio, you can aid cardiovascular efficeincy, insulin sensitivity and increase blood flushing abilities.

Now what is cardio? its as open as saying what is a lot of money.
Cardio is split into so many sub sections from perfromance to recovery, health to fat loss that there is no definitive answer.

one definitive answer though is there is no reason you SHOULD lose muscle when doing cardio but oh so many DO lose muscle as a result of poor choice in cardio and meals to accompany.

Also be aware of muscle loss vs glycogen depletion
