aye i used to do bar dips but the gym got rid of the gear and most other good building gear, hence me now training at home

they seem to think a smith machine was good enough

one scenario when they will be good is if access to a dip machine/rack is not possible

for example, training at home

I dont think anyone can argue lb of lb bench dips are as hard

Similar to saying chins with your feet being held is as hard as unassisted ones

less contact points = more stability required, more stabilisng/assisting muscles recruited

you will never be able to put the same load through a bench dip as you will a PB dip
