Dominant triceps

Hey all, when doin flat bench it feels like my triceps are taking too much of the strain and not allowing my chest to work as hard, was wondering if there is anything i can do to work the chest harder.

Pre exhaust? flyes or crossovers prior to pressing.

Re: Dominant triceps

Another technique i have used is placing a 4-5 inch pad on my chest and performing 6 reps to the pad, have a spotter remove the pad and then perform a further 6 full range reps.

The first part of the movement is predominantly using triceps and the second targets the chest.

I've found that smith benches allow me to squeeze the pecs better than free weights.

Re: Dominant triceps

Id say to fully adduct your shoulder blades it puts your bench in a better position to contract. Arching your back helps as well, full rom = full development.

THERE IS CONTRADICTION WITH WHAT YOUR SAYING.
ARCHING YOUR BACK REDUCES RANGE OF MOTION, SO WHICH IS IT REDUCE RANGE OF MOTION OR FULL DEVELOPMENT THROUGH FULL RANGE OF MOTION?

Re: Dominant triceps

Switch to DB. On the down motion keep DB in a position with your inner arm towards your body ( opposite you would usually do ). Bring down as far a possible allowing max stretch. On the contraction ( upward motion ) twist the wrist so you end in a stantard DB press.

You can't 'adduct' shoulder blades - you can only adduct / abduct a limb.
You mean retract?

Secondly, as Con has pointed out - your contradicting yourself - the more excessive the arch the less the ROM

incline bench is better for pecs imo

but get your elbows under and inline with the barbell press to the neck
