Close Grip Bench

Hey all, when doing Close Grip Bench Press, it seems to put a lot of strain onto my wrists. Is this because I'm doing too close a grip or due to weak wrists or another factor?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Close Grip Bench

Using a EZ bar (hands on the angled part) or a smith machine helps greatly.

I agree totally mate, close grip bench is significantly harder than close grip smiths.

Re: Close Grip Bench

Shoulder width is just right, and should put no stress on the wrist, until you get heavy, then get some wrist supports.

Re: Close Grip Bench

Thanks for responses. Seems to be the width of grip as I was keeping my elbows in, and my grip was closer than shoulder width.

Cheers.
