Dumbell bench press

I find I am doing this with palms facing each other, while the percieved technique is with palms facing the feet.

I'm still lifting like a press as opposed to a flye.

Is this a bad technique? I can feel it working the muscle...

Re: Dumbell bench press

Yup. its a good technique. The grip you describe ( sometimes called a hammer grip) may bring some of the other muscles, apart from the pecs, in to play rather than the classic technique. But like you say you can feel it working the muscle you were targeting, no worries! .

The difference is irrelevant. Do whatever feels the most comfortable.

Re: Dumbell bench press

Thanks gents.

I've been doing it the conventional way lately and it's been OK. Will probably vary it from time to time to mix things up.

Re: Dumbell bench press

Try pressing in the conventional method and rotate in motion to end the press on the method described as Hammer Grip.
