Gym AND footie? Burns out the gym work?

Hi all, myself i love 5 a side footie and tennis - in fact i play 3 games of 5 a side during the week. In fact the only reason i decided to join a gym was because i couldnt be bothered to wait around for the game before hand! So mmyself i hit the gym for 30min on mon - then straight into a 5 a side game for an hour.....Tue - gym for 50min, then 5 a side - same for thu.

The main thing is.....am i burning off all this work on the gym by then playing 5 a side after? I mean its not like ****nal vs man utd - its a general knock around...but ive heard that i maybe over doing it. Do u think it will make any difference? Either way, i have increased bulk in the last 5 months, from 12 to 13 stone....What do u think? Any opinions on this? thanks

If you like playing football then play football end of story, its not like your going to be MR O so why not do what you like to do.

I think the only thing you need to be careful of is burning YOURSELF out.

Don't forget to get rest!

I wouldve thought as long as you have your pwo nutrition sorted it wouldnt be a problem.

Like you said 14 pound in 5 months. Not bad going at all!

Re: Gym AND footie? Burns out the gym work?

Just make sure you replace the fluids you have lost and you will be fine. I find football a really useful component to my workout routines as I don't like going cardio in the gym so football is ideal. If you ever do a cycle then this really helps.

All that matters is progression in your gym exercises, for that to happen everything else needs to be right.
so use that as your indicator for if you are on the right track.

Re: Gym AND footie? Burns out the gym work?

depends on wether u wana be a football player or a body builder, personally id stop playing if u want to be a bodybuilder. ive been trainning for 10 years now and only stoped playing footy 3 years ago, ive gone from 12 stone to near 14 stone, but if ure doing both, just to to stay in shape then do both and dont train on footy days
