![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Recovery time of small muscles. Something I see post time and time again on bodybuilding boards is that small muscles such as bi's and tri's will take longer to recover than a small muscle. Does this not seem counterintuitive to anyone? I mean a with a small muscle there less for the body to repair, so will it not happen quicker? Also ever noticed how you can train calves 2-3 times a week ad make quicker progress than once a week? Same goes for forearms.......... so why not bi's and tri's? thoughts anyone? |

I tend not to perform too much direct workout on bi's/tri's due to their incorporation during the compound lifts.I probably only perform 3 sets of 8-12 reps per group at the end of the relevant session. i guess, once again,it boils down to individual recovery rates, supplementation and trial and error.

The point is which muscle will recover from a session quicker? The bigger back muscles or the bicepts. The body will have more to repair on the back muscles so why does it happen quicker than the bicepts where there is less to do? | |

I havn't really experienced a longer recovery period on these specific muscles, aches normally subside on all bodyparts at a similar rate for me,after 3-4 days. This would be when i would consider training the area again, directly or indirectly, dependant on how i feel.

Training an area just because it doesn't feel sore isn't a particularly accurate measure of recovery. I am never sore, even after doing 10 sets of heavy squats. Does that mean I should squat daily? Why not try both ways (high frequency and low frequency) and see which way you make the best progress. Everybody is different - just because Arnie made his (claimed) best progress training twice daily six times a week, and Mentzer made his (claimed) best progress training once every 7-10 days, it doesn't mean you're the same. You have to find this out for yourself by trial and error ![]()

For the record,i normally only train the same body part once every 6-8 days and am making good progress.

![]() | Re: Recovery time of small muscles. lower back takes the longest to recover... as it get hit twice a week while doin back and legs.. lats and chest - every 5 days delts n traps - every 5 days bi n tri - 2 times a week is fine. your body doesnt revolve around a seven day week... if its not hurtin and you're fine , go for it. there are no rules in bodybuilding - the body doesnt run according to whats written on some routine.. go by feel. |
