Re: Walking Lunges etc.

alot of people make the mistake of putting one foot directly in front of the other with lunges, which will completely compromise your balance. You start with an almost shoulder width stance, so maintain this throughout the movement. give it a bash, it may be that you were putting one foot in front of the other subconsciously.

and yes, its a sweet-ass exercise!

good luck.

Re: Walking Lunges etc.

As your doing it, step outwards slightly as you lunge. Make sure your looking ahead and keeping a neutral spine rather than looking down at your foot placement.

Re: Walking Lunges etc.

Dumbells should be easier to control I guess cos your arms are by your side. Just be careful not to over-stretch as this will cause a loss of balance.
Definately a top exercise and one not to give up on. I just wish there was room in my gym to do the lunges along a 20m strip like Ronnie and Jay do! I have to put up with lunging forward and then pushing back up to my original standing position.

Re: Walking Lunges etc.

Keep squatting/deadlifting as normal. With growth the imbalance should sort itself IMO. I'm unsure as to how you know that one leg is stronger than the other? One legged leg-presses etc. are asking for injuries!

Re: Walking Lunges etc.

Start doing single leg work, just go light with higher reps - dont try pushing your luck.

Re: Walking Lunges etc.

when I change leg I noticed that I do not wobble when I bend my right leg but when I change and do my right I wobble and fine it a little uncomfortable compared to the other leg.

ah24 clearly disagrees with me but I personally don't do single leg presses etc because it's too easy to twist a knee badly. Just my opinion though.

Re: Walking Lunges etc.

There are a few unilateral exercises you can do like leg extentions, leg curls, step ups, lunges just using one foot, 1 legged squats to parrallel using 1 hand on a wall or pole etc and 1 hand holding a dumbell.

As for the leg press, as i said, dont go mad, less weights more reps to recruit all the 'deep' fibres. Just REALLY concentrate on form, yes it could be easy to twist a knee but iv never had a problem.

Just my opinion, as with most things in this game - there is no right or wrong answer, its all theories!
