BIGz ROUTINE

Hi, been following bigs routine for a couple of months now and am really pleased with the results. However i am adding some extra sets as below. Wot do you think? Am i getting the best of both worlds here or wasting my time.

e.g

WED-
INCLINE BENCH-2SETS WARM UP 30KG (10REPS)
-2SETS CURRENT WEIGHT (6-8REPS)
-2SETs 15KG (TILL FAILURE FAST AS POSSIBLE)

Its pretty much the same for the rest of the routine
i.e

BENT OVER ROWS
PULL UPS
MILITARY PRESS (FREESTANDING)T

SATURDAY SAME FORMAT (5SETS) AS FOLLOWS

SQUAT
DEADLIFT
CALF RAISES
WEIGHTED DECLINE CRUNCHES.

cardio 20min mod pace run on treadmill twice a week not on weight days.

Re: BIGz ROUTINE

I would recommend against adding the extra speed sets to failure - although if you have been adding them for the past 2 months and are happy with your results, who am I to stand in the way of progress

Re: BIGz ROUTINE

Think i might forget those fast reps. As im putting that much into the other sets im feeling sick and dizzy after my squats and deadz. Will this allways be the case or will i work past this as i progress.

Re: BIGz ROUTINE

Sorry i cant answer that question for you but i was wondering what is the benefit from doing speed sets and heavy sets in the same training session, is this for a balance of definition and mass. or just to shock the muscle growth or both points i mentioned? or somehting completley different?

I thought maybe i could get some greater degree of muscle endurance adding this fast set. When i started doing this i got bad burn. ut re-reading BIGS article i realised that aching is not a good indicator of the effectiveness of the routine. I dont wanna fall into the trap of adding extra unnesessary exercises at the risk of overtraining and/or injury.

Re: BIGz ROUTINE

On the nausea. I think maybe i could be pushing for too much intensity. Gonna have a check up tho to make sure. Ive has a few 'episodes' whilst intensity training this past year so a the doc needs to get to the bottom of it
