Re: Best technique for Swiss Ball exercises

Theres a good lower ab excersise you can do. I'll do my best to explain.

Strectch out fully in the push up postion with your hands on the floor and your toes up on the swiss ball. So that there is nothing underneath you.
Then pull your knees to your chest rolling the swiss ball with it. Get it?

Or i think the best one is this:

with your back on the swiss ball crunch with left shoulder to right knee so that your your knee and shoulder kinda meet. Do a set of these and then switch it right shoulder to left knee.

i think the key is nice and slowly and hold the crunch for 2 or 3 seconds.

Hope that helps.....

Re: Best technique for Swiss Ball exercises

I have a book crammed full of hundreds of weird & wonderful exercises to do with a swiss ball.

If I were you I'd get hold of a book & have a play to see what suits you.

Re: Best technique for Swiss Ball exercises

Swiss ball roll outs i find are a key abdominal excercise. (same as using a barbell or home adjustible dumbell roll out)

your working on balance at the same time as benching so if you wanna try balance 44kg+ a hand and bench on a swiss ball feel free to try. anyone with me ? they do have their place though.

Jenna - I started using the swiss ball for abs , you get a great workout from it. I found this video on you tube a great help. When you take the arms back, my god you can feel them working.

Re: Best technique for Swiss Ball exercises

I find them great for balance and co-ordination, I regularly do swiss-ball squats with light dumbells.

Re: Best technique for Swiss Ball exercises

I often squat 100kg on them while balancing using only one leg and Irish Luck.

Seriously though, some people go too far with what they do on a Swiss ball. I've just started using on as part of my rehab for a back injury. I never realised how weak my core was until I started doing simple exercise like raising a knee without my whole body shifting. My core probably resembles that of a 9 year old girl!

A great piece of kit if used correctly and sensibly.

Re: Best technique for Swiss Ball exercises

to be honest they are a waste of time for abs-do strict slow crunches-they defo work squeeze at top and slowly lower(thatl be why called crunches!)do to side also by moving on to hip works a treat and you can do anywhere

I've been doing some of this routine for the last couple of weeks since seeing. I personally think it's excellent.
