Lat Pull Down

Hi all, My lats have seemed to have developed better lower down my back rather than further up my back under my shoulders (so i havnt quite got the really sought after v shape). I started trying wide grip chin ups last month (because everyone always rants about how effective it is) and noticed that it seemed to trigger growth nearer the top of my lats. Well this got my thinking, why should this happen, after all i perform my lat pull downs in good form. It struck me that the "wide grip" chin up bars were exactly that, wide. So i started using a wider grip on the lat pull down and it seems to be doing the trick. Does this make sense? Were my hand not far enough apart or is the wide grip chin up just mmore effective? Someone must know because this is really quite elementary....im ashamed to say

Be ashamed be very ashamed.lol,kiddin'

Lats are a bit like pecs in many ways there big and theres so many ways and angles you can hit them.Sounds like your usual medium grip is the cause for your disproportionate growth.

Dont forget to throw in close grip pull downs, very wide grip pull downs, low rows and all your chin up bar options to smash them lats every which way.

Re: Lat Pull Down

Very true, vary the grip as much as you can each time & you will get a better overall development.

Re: Lat Pull Down

Yeah seems to be working guys, Slightly stupid of me really, its almost obvious when you just think about these things. I started targeting my pecs from all angles ages ago to good effect..cant believe i didnt consider trying the same for the old lats. Ah well, another lesson learned. Cheers.
