Incline Dumbell Chest Press

Right.....I don't know what I want out of this thread but I'm starting it anyway.

Lately been having a hard time doing incline dumbell chest press, and I mean really having an hard time. I know my form mustn't be right and I'm going to ask some one in the gym tomoro to show me how to do the exercise.

My triceps always end up giving out when I'm doing the movement, and this is only with 14kg dumbells too (trying to better my form). Blatently I'm not doing it right but has any ever had this happen to them? Maybe it's just my triceps? I miss liftin :(

Re: Incline Dumbell Chest Press

Stick with it, this is the best chest builder bar none (enter all the ''bench press is king'' comments). :p

I have never been a 'bencher' and have a better chest than most guys who do, and no shoulder injuries ever. Incline DB is my number one choice.

maybe holding the dumbells too close together, iv seen a lot of people doing this. train with a mirror to the foot of you, pop your head up a second to check that your forearms draw a straight line from the floor. i saw a lad doing this with his elbows too flexed and the one gave way letting the 14 bop him on the head giving him a nice purple shiny closed eye!

Re: Incline Dumbell Chest Press

Kevo - I've tried all the variations, they all seem to give me trouble. I'm going to have to ask a trainer in the gym to show me how to. Think that is my best bet.

Nine pack....I'm definitely staying with the exercise because when I started out it was great for me, I had great gains on my chest from using it.

Thanks for the advice Pauly i'll try to see if that works next time I do chest without causing any hassle in the gym and getting in peoples way haha.

Re: Incline Dumbell Chest Press

id say try flat dumbells first in your routine, then do incline smith machine pressing after. thats what i do and i get the best pump from these two excersises. flat dumbells are a good mass builder and then when you hit the incline smith, it keeps your form tight and really helps focus on your chest,

just imo maybe worth a try until youve built a good base then try the incline dumbells.

Re: Incline Dumbell Chest Press

Mate you have to keep at it drop the weight to 12's and work with them till you feel you can handle the 14's.

Your better of having a lighter weight and completeing the exercise with good form than swinging massive weights around with no form champ.

Everyone has to start some where mate, you will slowly get it then just continue to work up bigger and bigger

Re: Incline Dumbell Chest Press

^^^^ yep, incline is harder to lift to same weights as you would do if you do flat dumbbell presses...just lower the weight mate!
