![]() | Do you guys think that doing heavy seated cable rows would be just as good if not better than doing medium weighted bent over rows, i say this as i know i can handle more weight but my lower back is bad and it puts to much stress and pain on it , also i find i cant bend down enought due to the back un less i use really light weights.

Brokenback, If bent over rows hurt your back, then simply dont do 'em mate. Especially if you can't bend down enough and perform the movement correctly. Try seated cable rows with a bar attached. Perhaps some T-Bar rows also.

![]() ![]() | Re: Seated cable row v's Bent over rows with back problem. Hi, you have a lower back problem and you back stabilizing muscles need to become alot stronger. Working any part of the back hard will, over time weaken it. |

If you have a lower back injury, then rest it period, do not do any training that emphasises that area and certainly nothing whihc would casue you to bend more than 45 degrees. Isolational work is all you are going to be able to do until you are rested 6-8 months. SD

You can still do stuff like dumb bell rows both at once lay chest down on an incline bench. If done carefully, you can even go heavy on these with little or no risk to the lumbar spine. They are a bit of a kick in the ego as you will not be able to use anything like the same weight as doing them single arm at once, but they are a great thickener to the upper back, rhomboids & mid traps.
