![]() | Smith V Bench Is it more beneficial to do your bench pressing on the smith machine in order for you to get closer to failure. I dont have some one to regulary spot for me so I do as much as I can on the bench but stop before I crush myself. If I go on the smith machine I assume that I couple knock out a couple more reps and go till failure safe in the knowledge that I wont drop it on myself. Is this right please, or will it ruine my beching technique |

Smith machines are ****e mate, only any good as a clothes horse ![]() Its an awkward un natural movement, steer clear i say, get someone to spot ya. :smoke:

Also, it is more forgiving that the Smith in terms of the actual movement. IMO you shouldn't be forced into any unatural postion, which for me the Smith does. It depends what kinda training you are doing as well. Failure isn't needed to grow. If you insist on going to failure get someone who has a clue to spot you.
