WEAK HANDS!

When doing deadlifts and shrugs my grip gives out on me before my muscles do. I bought some straps to see if this would help but just can't get on with them. I typing ths in a foul mood as I feel that I've had a crap workout.

Am I being a div and using the straps incorrectly or is there something else which will do the job better? All advice and thoughts greatly appreciated, but don't all just agree that I'm a stupid div! Insult me yes, but help aswell please!

Re: WEAK HANDS!

straps are confusing too start with, its very hard to explain how too use them on here, ask one of the guy's in the gym to show you mate.

sorry cant think how to explain (keep twisting them around in your palm - like you would rev a motercycle, but each time you pull the throttle back open the palm and take some more of the strap into the palm the strap should be going in the opposite direction)

Re: WEAK HANDS!

I found that using liquid chalk (the stuff rock climbers use), it helped my grip alot.

Re: WEAK HANDS!

drop the straps for deadlifts imo! buy some climbing chalk in a mesh ball and use this, if you need to drop the weight a little, do so, and load the weight back on - your grip will adapt very, very quickly...

I used to have exactly the same problem mate...

Then I discovered this stuff http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SURGRIP-GEL-FO...QQcmdZViewItem

Its resin and you literally have to peal your hands off the bar at the end of a set.

I put 30k on my deads in just over a month as the grip was obviously the limiting factor.

I dont use it so much now as the grip has got naturally stronger. Just maybey on the heaviest set
