More on Squats

I slipped a disc last week doing squats, on the second set, got the weight on my shoulders stood back from the rack a just as I was about to start, it felt like someone stabed me in the back between the shoulder blades, there was a slight colaspe type of feeling as well.T6 to T8 area on the spine.

Thing is now, should I not do squats and just do leg press instead.

Re: More on Squats

If you've slipped a disc, I strongly suggest you don't train. That said; I have never personally slipped a disc, however I can only imagine training back/legs would be totally out of the question?

Some other members who have slipped their disc will be able to advise you further mate.

Re: More on Squats

I can't believe you are even contemplating squatting with a slipped, or prolapsed disc

If you are having physio or chiro treatment, speak to them about what it is you are capable of doing. Sometimes, remaining sedentary is not the way forward, however doing the same thing that caused the problem initially is asking for trouble.

Re: More on Squats

Thing is, Iv had this about a year ago when I was doing shoulder press's, the pain only last a couple of days, I take some iburofen and lie flat. i can still do shoulder press but have not done the same since though.
Been to the chiro, and he said "oh youve got a knoted back" made it click some with the arm behide the back trick and relived me of 50 quid, needless to say it didnt help any. He didnt say not to lift weights any more.
It feels fine now.
No Hackskii I didnt drop them, did put it back on the rack damn smartish though.

Re: More on Squats

Nothing is worse for a weightlifter/bodybuilder than injuries.
Worse yet the older you get the longer it takes to heal up.
