Squats kiklling my traps

I cant think of any way to avoid this really just wondering if anyone had any tips as it makes me a little light headed and thats before I start squatting!!

most gyms usually have some sort of wrap you can put around the bar to soften the blow to ure traps m8.

I've never had the probelm personally but you can get foam bar surrounds which most gyms I've used have.

Try holding the bar a little further down - sort of across the traps - just above the delts (if that makes sense lol) You could also try front squats instead.

If your traps hurt thats good! It means you are shrugging your traps up to keep the bar off your spine!

Do more trap work such as upright rows to build bigger stronger traps (cushions).

I used to have this a lot.

Go a bit lighter and more reps till your body gets used to it.

Hold the bar in the front.

I do put a hooded jumper over my shoulders and then tie the arms behind my back.

Not much helps when you go heavy, just do it and wear your olympic bar rub marks like a badge of bodybuilding

i used to use a foam cover till somebody kick it across the gym and explained it was for girls, used to hurt like hell but you get the positioning right and alls fine..!

Yup yup its where your placing the bar when you are squatting that will be doing this, do as Baz says and you should find that you dont get a pain in your neck or that light headed feeling.
