Not feeling my chest!!

Hi guys, bit of a prob with my chest work, Im not really feeling it to be honest, only when I do flys. Any DB bench presses I do I mainly feel in my shoulders, any tips??? I try to focus on just pushing with my chest but to no avail

p.s, when doing DB benches you start with the DB's sideways (palms facing your feet) and finish by rotating inwards or other way round, had a break from training for a good while and cant remember :withstupi

Using your current training routine, are you gaining strength in the main compounds which utilise your pecs (bench, dips, inclines)?

Hi BIG, thanks for the reply, I am gaining strength quite well but tbh I was wondering if this was my chest and not my other muscles that are associated with the excercises, probably just me being paranoid!

If you're gaining strength, keep doing what you're doing. It's a FAR better indicator of progress than whether you "feel" like your chest has been worked and/or whether it gets sore enough for your liking.

If you bench 80kg today, 120kg next year, 160kg the year after and so on, your chest WILL be far bigger whether you "feel" it getting worked or not.

I have NEVER in my life seen a guy who can bench big weights who has a tiny under-developed chest.

If you REALLY want to feel like your chest has had a workout, just pre-exhaust with an isolation move a la Mentzer... but honestly, there's no need (and it may well be counter-productive)... it's the guys pressing the big numbers who have the big chests

Ok mate, I like the logic behind that! Just after the pump I get from training bi's etc. But like you say, you dont see big benches with small chests and thats good enough for me! :lift:
