Head nodding on bench

I've seen lots of lifters use a bench press technique whereby when they lower the bar down to there chest they raise there head up of the bench.
What's your opinions on this technique and what do you use?

IMO it's not a good technique to raise the head as it can promote rounding of the back (hunching over), which is pretty dangerous, especially when going heavy.

Standard powerlifting bench technique for me - nice tight arch (although not too big of an arch), shoulders pinned back, head and ass on the bench.

ive seen loads of people lift there heads off, but TBH when your pressing out the natural thing to do is to also push with the back of your head too.

no right or wrong really

If going very heavy you can't help it sometimes and its no big deal then, if your going light enough NOTto lift your head up, then no its not a good idea to lift up your head i reckon.

Maintaining form is crucial to benefitting from the exercise you're doing. The head movement ought not come into a bench press. If it is, drop the weight. Form is important.
