Food Dilemma

Hi all,

I am going to the Brecon Beacons for four days in a couple of weeks (Joy)!

I will be walking most of the day and camping at night.

The first night Friday I will be in a youth hostel with the use of their facilities.

The next two nights I will have a stove etc

Questions is what do you take? I want to eat fairly clean and keep up my protein/calories but dont want to be carrying around a huge rucksack full of tins.

I thought about reconstituted food such as MRP's and it turns out we will have access to plenty of water.

I need to draw up a meal plan for four days, with three meals a day and snacks in between that suit my diet/calorific requirements.

Any ideas?

Thx

SD

TBH mate, I wouldn't worry about it and just go with the flow and relax the diet, 4 day's isn't going to make much difference.
I think sometimes we need to take a step back from the dieting thing, most of us on here follow the diets and training to keep in good shape, not compete.
Remember - you diet should be a lifestyle, not your lifestyle a diet!

You are right PU,

But I have to take something, so it might as well be nutritious!

Any ideas?

Looked on Myprotein.co.uk and thought of this as a Diatia friendly MRP.

35% Flax
30% Activated Barley
30% Milk Protein
Strawberry flavouring

will this be any good? will it taste like sh1t, as I haven't tried the flax powder b4?

thx

Oats, Whey, Honey, Nuts, Raisens, Flapjacks, Jerk Beef, HB eggs, MRP Bars, Dried Fruit, Rice Cakes, Oat Cakes.

Personally, in the past i've made up tuna/oat burgers and wrapped them in foil, they're lightweight and will keep well at this time of year.

i tried adding flax to my shakes, bad idea! it ruins the taste of a good shake.

i have it in my tuna with a bit of salsa it masks the taste quite well.

Was going to say go for the home made bars, try a few different recipes, you can make the ratios exactly what you want, they are small and easy to carry!

If Rob has emailed you already.............. you have it sorted i guess!

Sports, I would go out and have a great time.
There are things that just require re-hydration.
Me myself personally, I would go and have a good time and not worry about anything but getting connected with the Wife.
Make her cook
But you can do alot of stuff camping but if you have to carry it all hiking then go with the dehydrated rout and just add hot water.

Thanks everyone, some really good ideas there.

The trip is functional, not fun I am afraid, it will be wet (very) and windy (much), my GF isn't going unfortunatley either so I will have to find someone else to share my sleeping bag with, hey Cheaters over that way isnt he???? lol

I figured MRP's would save me a lot of carry weight and also be healthier than bacon & eggs. To be honest now I am on the Diatia roll, even my cheat day food just didn't taste as good anymore, I would almost prefer a Beef bowl, sad eh?

Thanks for the message Chef, just goes to show that the info you share here for free is the icing on the cake! well it wouldn't be fun if you gave all your secrets away in one!

SD
