Few questions.....
1. Best time to take it?
2. What do you take it with?
3. How effective in recovery actually is it?

btw wing dont say it is best to be taken with beer... ive tried :p

Personally I don't think it's effective at all. There's so much evidence that only about 5% of what you actually ingest gets put to any use at all.


Some people think it helps them recover quicker - I truly think it's the placebo effect though.

Posted this a while ago in the supplement forum:

Glutamine is a non-essential amino acid but makes up most of the amino acids found in ur blood - if u are low in glutamine u simply won't gain any lean muscle mass

Glutamine stores in the body are v.v.low after a workout so u need to replace them unless u want to get into a catabolic state which is kind of defeating the purpose of a workout! My suggestion is that glutamine is, second to ur whey, the most important supplement u can buy. It also curbs catabolism when ur on a cutting cycle. I'd take 5-10g in the morn, 10g after a workout (if a rest day don't bother with this midday) and 5-10g before bed.

Even though i posted this on the 28/07/04 - i still completely agree with it

Glutamine won't appear to do anything until you stop taking it, then believe me, you'll suffer with DOMs big style.

Really helps retain mass when you're cutting too.

Crazycacti got it spot on when to take it. (I use 5g).

So it actually prevents you from being sore? Im doing some creatine, bumping up my diet by another 300 calories so ill see how it goes.

they are going good. Last week i was going heavy and almost didnt make it up on the 10th. They are one my favourites now though, thanks for asking.

Killer, L-Glutamine also helps with your alkaline stores too.
This helps the body maintain PH.
This is good for health and not just muscles.
Acid ashing and Alkaline ashing are important but that is a whole huge nother topic.

I take L-Glutamine as its in the V12.
This is one Amino that I would take while dieting tho for sure.

def take it dieting! as said before as its the main amino in the body taking will therefore curb catabolism - just waiting for that wonder supplement that stops catabolism completely when ur cutting
