Sodium no no's

To fight water retention salt and sodium levels need to be watched. I always check what I eat for sodium and its always a very minute amount.

Can I take it form this that you only need a small amount of sodium to retain water or that there are other foods with high amounts of sodium?

It's the type of sodium you need to watch not the amount! Atheletes need much more sodium than regular people but get it from sea salt flakes that have not been processed. Processed foods containing sodium derivatives and table salt are no no's. If your commonly getting cramps it shows your deficient in sodium as sodium is required to take potasium through to the muscle.

This is of course general info I have no idea how it relates to competing.

Re: Sodium no no's

Yes, the sea salt that has not been bleached.
The stuff is actually a bit grey.
I buy sea salt, I have seen it in balls at this special health food store, it looked like grey marbles.

I dont know what to think anymore.
I read a book on salt and the author suggested it was not as bad as people made it out, and that salt is only bad if one is sensitive to sodium.
Then talked to my doc and he said all people are sensitive to sodium.
