protein for whole body weight or muscle mass???

When working out how much protein you need do you work it out for your whole body weight or muscle mass

It's usually 1.5-2g protein per lb of bodyweight. eg, if your weight is 200lb you need anywhere between 300-400g of protein.

I'm 215lb so either 322g or 430g depending on how it's worked out. I use alot of maximuscle whey so it's going to cost a fortune unless anyone can give me an alternative???

Whats the thoughts on La muscle whey??? reason being is there vip protein is going for £95 for a 5kg tub. It's a mix of whey concentrate and isolate and it gives you a dose of 45g of pure whey isolate per serving???

nah don't bother with LA whey.... myprotein or bulk powders are great...

if you have more cash... boditronics & EAS are good.

If your well off... CNP pro prep is very good, along with BSN are also good!

stay clear of LA muscle and maximuscle... very expensive and over marketed!

food?

i disagree that any natural trainer needs 430g of protein unless their body fat is silly low, their carbs are horribly low and their output is massive pre contest

Use MyProtein.co.uk. I think prices start at £10 per kilo and the more you order the cheaper it gets.

You have no idea how much I agree with this post.
Food sources for protein are totally preferred, I can give a list of reasons and that will be a good list too....lol
I also feel that many prioritize way too much protein in your diets, I honestly dont feel it is needed.

If you are going to base your protein on bodyweight, it would be lean mass, not total bodyweight.
Protein supports lean tissue.
Protein is the least efficient fuel source there is, making that prefrence in the body only compromises your energy stores.
