![]() | So I have been testing ways to get rid of hangovers. When my best friend and I drink, once or twice a week, we usually have about 50 drinks between the two of us. We are big guys who have been drinking hard like this for a few years now, also we both have been lifting for a long time and are no strangers to hangovers. Since I got older and wiser I started figuring out how to best get rid of hangovers. Everyone has their own cures, and these are just some examples of what I use to get over my hangovers. First I usually try to avoid sugary drinks when I am drinking that night. Second if you can, try and mix your drinks with things that hydrate you like vitamin water or gatorade, unless you just drink beer or wine. It may not taste as good but you you'll be kicking yourself in the morning if you don't. It may be sugary but it will help keep you from getting too dehydrated. After you are done drinking, never go to bed without drinking water. This is the most crucial step of preventing or curing a hangover. For me, I know that when you drink so much, your gonna feel it the next day regardless. I know how hard it is to avoid just flopping into bed and passing out after a long night but this is crucial, because once your hungover, your screwed for while, and it just takes time to get your body to hydrate and flush out last nights toxins. Spend even 5 minutes just trying to drink as much water as you can. This may even make you vomit but that will only help clear your stomach. Drinking that much water is going to make you have to get up to pee eventually, which is a good thing. If you use a gallon jug for your water this is where it really comes in handy. Fill up that jug or something that holds a lot of water and leave it right by your bed or on the night stand. When you get up to pee, drink some more, you may need to repeat this process many times throughout the night. This alone will make you feel a million times better than if you just pass out without drinking liquid. Another important step is to have some food after you drink or at least during, and preferably something that will soak up alcohol like breads. When you wake up, first thing, try some caffeine, some coffee with sugar, or my favorite because i'm not a big coffee drinker is gatorade, and lots of it. And for some reason greasy food works wonders for hangovers. A nice burger really hits the spot. And of course ibuprofin or advil will help your head a little. Plus, thinning your blood may help the circulation. Most people know all of these things but that is what I do religiously everytime I drink. Something many people may not know is that sweating it out is one of the quickest ways I get over my hangovers. I learned this because I used to be hungover at work all the time and once I started sweating I noticed that my hangover would clear up much quicker. I eventually stepped this up and after food and hydrating I would take my water and go sit in the sauna at the gym. Even if you didn't take any precautions the night before and you just woke up hungover as dog ****, just take a bunch of water and go sit in the sauna and start drinking, I garauntee after an hour of rotating in and out of the sauna you'll feel so much better. There are no miracle cures. Just time and water will help you recover. We can all strive to drink less and excercise more, but people will always want to have a good time and will sometimes drink to much, but there are ways to be smart about it. If you can keep yourself from being to hungover or take some steps to resolve it quicker, you'll spend less time in bed and more time in the gym. Cheers :beer1: |

My own fault for drinking stupid and mixing it in with spirits. I was in bed all weekend and i learnt my lesson.

![]() | Re: how to beat a hangover Ya, sometimes in the morning another drink really can help. I have a habit of waking up after only a few hours, early in the morning, and I usually feel ok. I really feel like crap once the alcohol is leaving my system. Sometimes I get withdrawels, I get kinda shakey, and that extra drink can help. And ya vitamin C works awsome too! I think that the worst hangovers I get is on wine. Then beer. I try and stick with liquer because it doesn't displace nearly as much water as the other options, plus I don't need the extra carbs. |

![]() | Re: how to beat a hangover I don't drink that much these days, but if I do go on a session I always make sure I go for a steady 20 min jog afterwards, followed by drinking a minimum of 2 litres of water and having a couple of slices of wholemeal toast. This combination always sorts me out, even if I'm really sh1tfaced, and the next morning I generally just feel a bit tired and dehydrated. |

![]() | Re: how to beat a hangover sesapure (sesamin/episesamin) prior to and after drinking. one of the primary causes of hangover and neurotoxicity of alcohol is due the aldehyde metabolites. Part of the reasons that many asians cannot tolerate alcohol is due to a polymorphism of the aldh2 gene (aldehyde dehydrogenase 2)- making them poor producers of aldehyde dehydrogenase. Sesamin/episesamin upregulates production of aldehyde dehydrogenase and can even help aldh2 sufferers. the other reason, DEHYDRATION, ideally drink 8oz of water for every alcoholic beverage.

![]() | Re: how to beat a hangover wow, that's interesting, I'll defo check that out, that is weird about asians though, I met this girl who said she was allergic to alcohol and I thought that was weird, but she was like screw it and had a couple of shots anyway, 10 minutes later she was super red faced and patchy, that's so interesting. |
