Basmati rice

Bit confused

I hear this is the best rice to eat (also wholemeal), yet I also read to stay clear of white rice? the basmati rice I get is white - the quick easy microwave packet stuff from Uncle Bens, is there 2 kinds of basmati rice or something?

Cheers

Re: Basmati rice

white rice i would personally use post workout to replace glycogen levels as it is a high glycemic carbohydrate (fast release energy) during the day you want slow release carbs so go for wholemeal.

Re: Basmati rice

I would say on a bulking diet that white basmati is better as you get a higher GI and slin reaction so the food gets absorbed better and so you can eat more in the day.

Brown Basmati rice is ULTRA LOW GI and will bloat you out if you are bulking cos of the amount of food you have to eat when off season.

Therefore White rice is best for off season and Brown for dieting when calories are restricted and you want a slower relase of energy.

I add pilau rice seasoning to mine and it makes all the difference in terms of taste
