Milk Thistle Helps Type 2 Diabetics

Guess this is good for liver and blood sugars. Hmmmmmm

Milk Thistle Helps Type 2 Diabetics

A popular herbal extract can help type 2 diabetics control their blood sugar, according to an international study. Published in the journal Phytotherapy Research, the study endorsed supplementing with the herb milk thistle as a means of reducing the risk of dangerously high blood sugar levels. A wide body of past research has found milk thistle's active ingredient, the compound silymarin, helps boost liver health and treats problems such as cirrhosis and chronic hepatitis. In this study, diabetics who supplemented with a 200 milligram daily dose of silymarin experienced significantly lower blood sugar readings compared with patients who supplemented with other popular herbs. Milk thistle is widely available over the counter. Diabetics should consult with their physician before using any form of supplements.
