![]() | Do calorie requirements vary between training/non-training days? Hi there, I read the excellent sticky on calculating daily calorie requirements, but as the title states i was wondering that if for non-training days you remove the calories required for the training session? I only ask because any chance to cut the amount of food i have to eat would be of a great advantage as i personally find eating an inconvenience! thanks for any help Ross |

Yes it would vary on training and none training day as when you train you burn up calories , and on your non training you wouldnt burn up as much cals, but i keep my cal levels high everyday of the week to be honest !

![]() ![]() | Re: Do calorie requirements vary between training/non-training days? Depends really! I would say if you are very inactive on your non-training days then lower your calories by 2-300 kcals. However if you're like me and end up doing all the things that get left till the end of the week like, cleaning the flat etc. I probably end up burning just as many calories as when I train! There are people that suggest that because you essentially 'grow' when you're not training your calories should be the same to support the metabolic needs of your cells. You could do what I do which is keep your calories the same, but change where you get them from in terms of macronutrients and foods. On non-training days I eat a much higher proportion of my carbohydrates from fruits and vegetables (probably averaging 20+ servings a day and 45+ grams of fibre) to enhance my thermic effect of feeding (TEF) even further and burn more calories just by eating! (it takes a lot of calories to process all the veg matter) That way you'll not feel deprived (if anything your volume of food will go up) and might even lose a bit of fat in the long run. Hope this helps answer your question. |
