P/C/F amounts? Help please!

Trying to sort my diet out and everywhere I look I seem to get a different answer for amounts per lbs of bodyweight for P/C/F Was gona copy the amounts from some of the pro's diets but have realised this is stupid because a. they're pro's b. they're dieting.

My stats are 5'9,1/2" (half makes all the difference :p) 197lbs. Havent got a clue about bodyfat percentage!! I'd guess 16% maybe a bit more?

I'm of course wanting to put on size and lose fat

Was thinking around 350 carbs, 350 Protein and whatever it happens to be fat wise lol, whilst being conscious of it..

Help, much appreciated.

p.s. I usually get back from the gym about 9, is it still ok to have carbs in my dinner meal? ( I have a post workout shake with maltodextrin)

Re: P/C/F amounts? Help please!

say ypou are to use 4000 calories and you want a 40 30 30 split then 40 = 1%.

1g of carbs is worth 4kcals
1g of prot is worth 4kcals
1g of fat is worth 9kcals

id say right out a diet and then work out the % by multiplying each macro by there kcal value and then divide by 1% of the kcals will give you how many you have of each.

That is based on the zone diet and to be honest it has alot of merrit. I was on it years ago and got very lean, at the end I was eating tons of food and still losing.
But that time I was the strongest I have ever been.

think I really need to find out my bodyfat percentage and BMI before I can work out the calories and go from there then?

Is there anywhere that has those machines where you float in water or something that accurately measure bodyfat % (cant think what they're called) that you can get you checked for free? hopsitals, colleges etc?
