Adding egg whites to oats?

Hey guys,

I am thinking of adding some egg whites to my oats in the morning (80g oats in milk and water at the moment). The thing is I hate eggs and can't eat them normally but want to add them to my diet. So I thought this might be a good way.

I don't like my oats to thick so how many do you think I should add and how long should they be cooked for? I normally do my oats for 3 mins and was thinking about adding the whites half way through so it did not thicken up to much.

I also have a protein shake with breakfast and some wholemeal toast.

Thanks.

Well, I love to add whey protein to my oats as this is basically made from milk and makes it nice and creamy.
1 scoop whey to 1/2 cup of oats which is like 27 grams of carbs to about 22 grams of protein.
Just about perfect for percentages I might add.
I also add butter as this is a nice natural fat. I dont use gobs of it just enough to make everything taste a little bit better and not so cakey/sticky.
But if you have a problem with butter than toss some flax seed in there and you will have a great morning meal with quality carbs which will help lower cholesterol,
and the lignans that are in the flax seed will help as a anti-oxident and you will get good omega 3 fatty acids from the flax.
Plus a quality protein and a fiber from the oats.
If you have the time to do this then I would go this rout.

Dont add the protein before cooking as this will ruin it but add it afterwards.

Or instead of butter or flax then you can take some fish oil tablets (they are cheap), but dont add them to the oats as they will ruin the taste.

say you want to add 8 eggs, use 2 whole eggs and the rest egg white. In the long run it is not a good idea to just eat egg white as it could accound for a niacin deficiency

Never ever seperate the white from the yolk, you need the fat in the yolk to fully digest the protein, also you have all the vits.mins in the yolk and all that lovely lecithin for fatburning,so why waste it?

Some Egg Facts on Nutrition.

Some health tidbits. I dont care what anyone says I will eat my eggs. Well the ones that I buy!

What do eggs have in them? The whites contain niacin, riboflavin, chlorine, magnesium, potassium, sodium and sulfur.

The yolks With the exception of riboflavin and niacin, the yolk contains a higher proportion of the egg's vitamins than the white. All of the egg's vitamins A, D and E are in the yolk. Egg yolks are one of the few foods naturally containing vitamin D.

Eggs also contain LECITHIN, Calcium, thiamin, folic acid and some good fats.

The yolk also contains more phosphorus, manganese, iron, iodine, copper, and calcium than the white, and it contains all of the zinc. The yolk of a Large egg contains about 59 calories.

The egg has every thing you need and is the most complete food you can eat. The only thing it lacks is vitamin c.
