Carbs in Pasta and rice!

hey huys. tryin to work my intake out but abit confused.

Im weighin my pasta and rice out but im cooking mine and the mrs together.

Now more or less with every meal i have for myself 100g of either rice or pasta but alately im cooking for two ppl now.

As we all now wen cooking rice or pasta it swells and absorbs water. Just wondering if anyone knows how much pasta or rice weighs equivalent to 100g uncooked?

Re: Carbs in Pasta and rice!

Sounds a bit stupid, but look on the back of the bag??? Even though the rice swells, it still has the same carbohydrate content as uncooked.

Re: Carbs in Pasta and rice!

What I do if I'm going to cook up rice and want to split it is get out a scale, weigh the pan and then zero the weight shown on the scale. That way once you've cooked the rice/pasta all you have to do is pop it onto the scale and half it between you and your wife (or to whatever ratio you like).

Re: Carbs in Pasta and rice!

I cant speak for rice but on the back of the bag of wholemeal pasta I have it says:

50g dry weighs approx 100g when cooked. Therefore, use this principal when dishing out.
