adding oats to shake

think this is the right forum but would it be ok to add porridge oats to my morning shake instead of having to eat a bowl. i have heard of oats being added to drinks but im not sure if you lose any nutritional value etc.

No problem with that at all mate. Its a great way to get extra k/cals and fibre into your MRP.

On a related note, if anybody uses Reflex Instant Whey try mixing that with oats and leave it for a few mins .. the digestive enzymes in the Reflex Whey practically dissolve the oats .. its very cool

do you rekon a cup of oats would be ok mixed with say 500ml of milk then a scoop of protein powder or is it just a case of trial and error?

If it is the same oats as here 5 minute (quaker) it is 25 grams for 1/2 cup of oats. If you are going to use a whole cup then I would add at least 2 scoops of protein maybe more like 2.5 scoops and toss in some flax seed oil. Make that a good nutritious meal. Covers all your bases too.

i was meant to have some steak and brown rice this afternoon but as i was dishing up the steak i realised i had forgoten to put the rice on(i know dozy tw*t). anyway i had a mug of oats in milk for carbs with the steak and realy enjoyed it. i found it was better after it had stood for a while because the oats were softer. this will definately be a staple part of my diet now.
