![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Shopping list I did nick that from another site, but I do think it is good for starters, and it can be printed and added to. The one section that is missing is 'herbs and spices'. I think this is important to have food be interesting, especially if you have been eating processed foods. Italian Flavouring Basil Oregano Fennel Seeds Sun dried tomatoes/tomatoe paste Garlic Olive Oil 'Mixed' Italian Spices Mexican Flavouring Safflower Oil Ground Coriander Ground Cumin Cayenne Pepper Oregano Chilli Peppers Chinese/Japanese flavourings Toasted sesame seed oil Ginger Garlic Soya Sauce Mirin - cooking rice wine Brown Rice Vineagar Umeboshi Plum Vineager Indian Garlic Onions Ground Cumin or cumin seeds Ground Coriander or coriander seeds Tumeric Astoefida (sp) Cinnamon Stick Cloves Cardamon Seeds Thai Sesame Seed Oil Lemon Grass Fresh Coriander/Cilantro Green curry leaves Red chili peppers (I am forgetting something here) Anyway, my point is that the same old veg or rice or chicken can taste quite different with different spices. It does help loads when eating clean. x x x T |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Clean Cheats I think this is really important as well, clean cheats! I know people are down on rice cakes, but hey, a tube of rice cakes doesn't do as much damage as a tub of Haagen Daas IMO. Some are MUCH yummier than others, and I really like a few of the corn cakes. Crisp breads as well, there is this spelt one, forget the name, only in proper health food shops (not Holland and Barratts, GNC, Julian Roberts or whatever that other one is). The Village Bakery also does these seed and nut bars that are ok. Peg and I were talking about this last night on MSN. Coming off a comp diet can be a bit bonkers, and as I did it about 6 times last year, so 8 times in total now, I have learned this, PLAN for pigging out. Skinny cow ice cream, there is this Swiss ? one, tofu, often in the kosher section in Sainsbury's or Tescos. I would read the ingredients and avoid buying anything where you don't know what is in it. Seriously, or even if it says inverted glucose/fructose/corn syrup, or hydrogenated, just avoid like the plague. Organic cane sugar is a special treat. Look for things sweetened with dates, figs, barley malt syrup, maple syrup, honey, concentrated fruit juices (often apple or grape). Dried figs, dates and honey are a great way to get off refined sugar. This is my policy, it has really GOT to be worth the calories. x x x T |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Shopping List for Newbies lol it just makes me laugh when people don't read posts properly and then comment on them e.g hazedunks asks "what bout low fat cottage cheese, and diet soda" yet if they had read the posts properly both tatyana and raikey both said that with this list YOU CAN ADD TO IT which in layman's English means PUT ON THINGS THAT YOU WANT TO BUY sorry just to clarify that as i have just read the post lol! |
