JFallon is on a distinguished road
Does more protein mean more mass?

I'm currently taking 1.4 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight. I weigh 155 lb and have been working out for 4 months. My question is, this is my workout routine http://www.wannabebig.com/article.php?articleid=255

I do this routine with 1.4 grams of protein per pound of LBM, would I get more mass gains if I did this same routine with 2 grams of protein, if everything else stayed the same?
Thanks.

No, you need more calories from all macros, not just protein.

Add some creatine in your diet.

I try and get 1gram of protein for each pound of bodyweight and I fall short all the time.

Yes, I would say at your size, have at LEAST 2g of protein per lb.

As hacks says above - it's about calories - make sure you're eating enough in total. If you're 155lbs and want to get to (for example) 180lbs, you're going to need to eat like a 180lb bodybuilder, not a 155lb bodybuilder!!

If you look at any of the top guys in bodybuilding, powerlifting or strongman, the vast majority are eating bucketloads of protein. This isn't by accident - it's because it works.

Anyone currently eating (for instance) 200g of protein a day should try upping their intake to 400g and seeing what happens. With the right training routine, I can almost guarantee the difference will be immense.

Getting your protein intake correct to support your training routine is imperative.

agreed with hacks...

aim for 200g daily of protein.. if you dont see yourself growing then up your calories by 500kcals.. if after 1-2weeks you still notice nothing (and you have kept the intake steady) then up again another 500kcals and you'll see gains.

I think the harder you train, the more protein intake is required.. no point in taking in 300g protein if your only doin a workout where even 150g would be sufficient.. *just my theory* - never overtrain, know your limits.. keep the reps low and slow rather then pushing them out and bringin them in really fast.

Overfeeding is anabolic.
I think for those with really fast metabolism's they can handle more carb's.
When I was young I could do this, not that I am old and grey I cant.
Hey, I aint that old.....haaaa haaaaa LMAO!!!!!

Had ya for a second tho.....
Im just old but not grey......heeee heeee

47.. yeah that's young.. keep pumpin!!

I got a nice pump aswell tonight.. but you wont believe this.. since my arm injury i backed down from 75kg bench riiiight down to 25kg extremely slow reps..

anyway, im now still only doing 36kg bench and my chest is STILL growing.. i alternate my bench from upper pecks for two weeks then lower pecks for two weeks and doin them as slow as i can whilst mantaining perfect technique.. along with 180g+ protein and a high carb high calorie diet im growin growin growin..

how is your daughter? has her mum decided on what she's goin to do about the new job offer?

Daughters Mom, ok sorry Mum is sticking to where she live.
I have been seeing my daughter every Friday till Sunday.
I really like that, she is so funny and I love just watching her, It makes my day.
We all are getting along just great.
Hey man, thanks for askin....cheers.......

OK, for your arm injury, dont do anything that will compromise your healing process................Therapy yes,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Annihilation is not an option. Don’t over due it and hinder recovery.
But in a therapy sense, it makes sense to use it, just not to what you are wanting to do.
Healing takes time, It took me 3 years to recover my shoulder.

That's great to know man.. glad you sorted things out

Yeh my arm is much much better now, for bicep workouts i've dropped bicep curls and i now do hammer curls.. (ok so they're not as effective but i'd rather do that then damage my arm more)..

i dont intend on pushin up the weight on my bench untill i stop growin then i'll consider it - this time im takin things slow, learn to listen to the body and fvck the mind lol
