a snack idea lean and protein rich

In my efforts to try to keep costs down and provide fast food for me to eat that is convenient and nutritious in my busy day I have discovered the following idea a bit by accident but I hope it can be beneficial to anyone here:

1. Buy a George Foreman grill.
2. Buy chicken breast.
now, here is the fun part, it takes some prep time but I think it is worth it in the long run.

Take the chicken breast, debone it. You will get the tenderloin to peel right off the bone and then cut up the rest of the breast in julienne strip sticks (along the grain of the muscle).

You can get 3-4 strips plus the tenderloin in each breast.

Grill them with garlic powder until they are cooked... 2-3 minutes .
Store in ziplock bag or container.

Grill them ahead of time for the whole week if you have the time.

It cuts out cooking time and makes it fast and versitile in preparing entrees with chicken.
If you are in a hurry just eat the chicken sticks.. If you have time you can create a meal with them.

When you are hungry for a snack take out the chicken strips and eat them like you'd eat carrots for a snack. Dip them in a spicy flax oil based sauce or homemade salsa prepared in advance.

It has helped me to keep to a clean diet and cut down my cooking time by preparing them ahead of time at the beginning of the week.
It also adds more protein to my diet, keeps my blood sugar level on an even keel, and burns the fat, because I am eating chicken sticks instead of a carbohydrate snack.

Now this may be more applicable for the ladies then the men since men can snarf down a chicken breast in one bite as if it were one chicken stick...

but I thought I would post it in general nutrition just to plant the idea and let you do with it what you choose.

Yes, you can, but to be honest, my bulk supply usually doesn't last the whole week because I eat it up as snack or chop it up in salads, wraps, stirfry, gumbo, stew, sandwiches. It's usually gone by Thursday. I keep it in the refrigerator.
If you cook a large amount just for snacking freeze it in serving size freezer bags or wrap and then warm it up in the microwave, if you are worried about spoilage.

Pre cooked chicken - now theres some 'out of the box' thinking! and Ive been taking my chicken to work raw. How did you come across that idea?

Heres an idea for a tasty vegetable snack to accompany your pre cooked chicken - take a carrot - and eat it. :-)

The idea came when I needed to use my time more efficiently raising 5 children and working. I wanted to play with my kids more than cook and clean.

Another good snack for work is celery with peanut butter or as MP suggested in a post, a handful or two of nuts. I prefer mixed nuts with pecans, walnuts, almonds, cashews.
