Whats the best way to burn ab fat?!?

Hey all.

Im to this forum, so apologies if this question is in the wrong area!

I am currently trying to bulk up and gain muscle, i do this by weight training on mon/wed/fri. The problem i am having is that if i want to gain weight (as in lean muscle), how do i go about losing the fat, which is only around my abs?

I am currently taking protien shakes as well as a weight gainer.

I am considering going for a run on a tuesday and a thursday and leave the weekends free, but would this be overdoing it and puting all my hard work to waste?

what i would do personally is do your weight routine, mon-wed-fri, then do 30 mins - hour cardio after your workout.
you cant localise fat loss btw

just keep at your workout fella eating right plays a big part too and i agree do cardio after your work out im doing the gym 6 days now for an hour and a half every night and cardio and im loosing megga pounds with shakes and good protein from foods

Wanna lose bodyfat?

Diet.

Only way bro, cardio might only burn a few hundred cals (30 minutes) where as just 2 cans of Pepsi would be the same amount of calories. But maybe some of those calories would be stored as fat due to the high spiking of insulin from the sugar.
Which is easier, running that off or just not drinking the pepsi's
Not saying that you eat that crap but this is just an example.

If you want to lose the belly, you will have to control insulin's repsonce to food.
Any other way of trying to lose the fat is just a waste of time.
Not only that but when you go off the cardio or slack off you will gain weight back again.
Controlling your food intake with the proper macronutrients is the only way to lose fat and stay fit.

Thanks, you can lose weight without cardio.
I am doing it right now.
I hate cardio but I do lift 5-6 days a week.

I dont understand how people can think they can use exercise to get them out of the position their mouth got them into.

This is not a slap at fat people or anyone. Hey I did it to myself too. Did the wrong thing for 8 years. Now I am in a hurry to get it all off (fat).
It is working but It did not get put on overnight and I dont expect to take it off overnight.

Thanks for the replies! some good info. i think i will just keep up with the weights and start going for a run straight after my workouts then, that should do the job! i have also cut all simple sugars out of my diet and also quit smoking about a month ago so i think i should be able to run for more than a minute without coughing my lungs up!

I would think that Tatyana would disagree with you there. She said in one of her posts that exercise is the way to lose fat not with diets.
Maybe that was just in reference to keeping the calories to the BMR.

I think you need a smart balance of both diet and exercise.

I do agree with you that what went into the mouth is what put on the weight.

But as you age your metabolism changes too and bone density and muscle mass change... so exercise is good for keeping those things at an optimum level as well as the diet.

My point still stands.
You can lose fat without cardio.
Any one want to challenge me on this?
Insulin controls fat storage.

1 soda would take depending on the pace over 20 minutes on the tread mill to burn that off.
It makes no sense to me to endulge on these types of food.

Some people are insulin resistant, and at some point all the cardio in the world wont help the person that does not control insulin and its storage.
Many athletes do have problems with inflammation due to too much insulin production.

Diet is key to fat loss period.
1/3 of the population in the States is insulin resistant.
That is diet controlled.
Sure exercise helps but without the right diet you will not get out of insulin restance.

For the life of me I dont understand why people think they can take a pill and run and think it is all rosey.
Food is the stongest drug you can put in your body.
The healthiest option, not only that but time well spent, why spend an hour burning off something that would take just 3 minutes to injest.
